SJP - Met Gala 2013

The theme of the Met Gala this year was 'Punk: Chaos to Couture'. I felt that many attendees made a luke warm effort, putting a couple of streaks of blue and pink dye in their hair or ignoring the theme altogether. The person I admired the most for fully embracing the theme was Sarah Jessica Parker. She pulled out all the stops in her punk inspired ensemble with her Giles Deacon dress, Christian Louboutin and show-stopping Philip Treacy mohawk headdress. It's very much a Carrie Bradshaw moment and makes me miss Sex and the City!

Tian Yi

I love the photographs of Tian Yi, shot for the May edition of Elle Vietnam by Oliver Stalmans. They are beautiful and darkly captivating.

I slightly edited these photographs for my blog.

Whippin' my hair

I was kindly sent an InStyler (32mm) to review. Having bowed down to the greatness that is GHD, I was interested to see how this would compare. The InStyler is unusual in that the barrel rotates, whilst the bristles sort and separate hair strands. There are three heat settings you can choose from and it's worth noting (so you don't drop it in fright and burn yourself!) that it makes a noise when the barrel starts rotating.

I used the InStyler in this photo to curl the ends of my hair.

If I'm being honest, when I first used my InStyler I wasn't impressed. It wasn't creating the best curls and waves. However, I wasn't using it correctly! After watching a few video guides on Youtube, it all clicked into place and now it creates the best curls ever - better than my GHD's! I also tried straightening my hair with it and it turned out ok but I'll stick with my GHD's for this as they create sleeker, shinier straight hair.

I'm an InStyler convert and use it all the time to create loose curls and waves. I'd most definitely recommend them. They can be bought on the InStyler website and I've been told that the price point is being looked at and reduced soon.
