April showers (weather phenomenon). A term used to describe spring rain in parts of the northern hemisphere, particularly the United Kingdom.

I don't think any woman ever runs so fast as when a sudden, unexpected downpour of magnificent proportions threatens to ruin her carefully styled, loosely waved ghd'd hair! 

Well, I was in that unfortunate predicament this afternoon and most definitely did my bit of exercise for the day!

When searching the web for a new Burberry-style trench coat I came across some amazing pictures from the Burberry Prorsum Autumn/Winter 2012 show. Only Christopher Bailey could turn a good old fashioned British downpour into a romantic and magical extravaganza.

This collection is amazing. If you have time, take a look at the full show that I have attached. One of my favourite sounds is when rain hits my bedroom window....so I adored it when rain came crashing down on the glass roof during the show (approx. 15:30).

A girl's best friend.

I thought I’d introduce Millie as she’ll no doubt be appearing in future posts. She’s unashamedly spoilt and loves watching Meerkat Manor. Her favourite celebrity dogs are Jiggy and Jackpot from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

I love jewellery.

After watching “Elizabeth Taylor: Auction of a Lifetime” on Channel 4 earlier in the week I had a wave of inspiration to start my own blog.

The programme covered a selection of Liz’s gems which were going up for auction and the stories behind her acquisition of them. For the show’s duration I was wowing and gasping with delight. I fell in love over and over again.

The sweet 91 year old Mickey Rooney commented, “I have always thought that if a woman is beautiful she doesn’t need anything but her beauty”. Although a charming sentiment, I beg to differ (sorry Mickey).

Some may be of the opinion that jewellery is superficial and whilst I’m not saying that jewellery is the most important aspect of a woman’s life, a beautiful necklace, a sparkly ring or breathtaking earrings can make us feel glamorous and confident. They can transform the dullest outfit into something enchanting.

Russian oligarchs and Chinese billionaires apparently snapped up the most expensive pieces of Taylor’s jewellery. Us mere mortals can only dream of owning them, but that doesn’t mean that a necklace which costs a few pounds can’t make us feel like a Hollywood icon for a night.
